Maple Syrup with Spice Cookie Recipe for Christmas
Bake these easy Maple and Spice Christmas cookies
Equipment

- Mixing bowl
- Whisk

- Cling Film
Ingredients
- 1 tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp Allspice
- 8 tbsp Butter Softened
- 1 Cup Dark muscovado sugar packed firmly
- 1 Egg Free Range of Course
- 1/2 Cup Maple Syrup
- 2 3/4 Cup Plain Flour
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 1 tsp Fresh ground Ginger
Instructions
- Combine the flour, baking soda, salt, and spices in a mixing bowl
- Cream the butter and sugar together in a separate dish until light and fluffy. Stir in the egg, then the maple syrup, being sure to whisk thoroughly after each addition
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, spices, and fresh ginger. When the dough begins to come together, turn it out onto a lightly floured board and knead it with your hands until it is smooth and free of lumps
- Refrigerate for 1 hour after wrapping with cling film
- Preheat the oven to 160 degrees Celsius fan bake or 180 degrees Celsius. Grease a baking sheet and line it with greaseproof paper.
- Roll the dough 5mm thick on a lightly floured worktop. Place the dough on the parchment-lined baking sheet and refrigerate for another 10 minutes
- Remove the sheet from the refrigerator and cut shapes out of the dough with your cookie cutter. Remove the excess and roll it into a ball, which you can rewrap and keep in the fridge
- Bake for 6-8 minutes, then remove the pan from the oven and lightly tap it on the counter to flatten the cookies
- Return them to the oven for another 6-8 minutes, then remove them from the baking pan and cool on a wire rack
